Patricia L. Terlecki Paralegal
Patricia joined Twining, Short & Haakonson in 2009 following a long career providing Paralegal support in a variety of areas including criminal law, commercial crime, corporate law, administrative law, conveyance, personal injury, disciplinary hearings, medical malpractice and general litigation. Upon obtaining her paralegal certificate from Capilano University in 1990 she focused her career on insurance defence litigation.
In her current role as a paralegal with Twining, Short & Haakonson, she provides support in areas that include bodily injury defence, property damage and casualty claims, municipal law defence, bylaw enforcement, foreclosures and subrogated claims. She works closely with the lawyers in the firm and provides assistance in all aspects of file management including gathering and summarizing evidence, analyzing issues, drafting pleadings, court applications, drafting bills of costs and preparing list of documents. She has extensive knowledge of various document management support systems utilized for complex, document-intensive multi-party claims.
She is a member of the BC Paralegal Association and co-chair and contributing member of the Amici Curiae Pro Bono Programme. She has written a number of desk reference manuals for the Law Courts Centre pertaining to civil litigation and has sat on a number of PLUG (Paralegal Litigation Users Groups) Committees providing feedback to the judiciary on a number of topics regarding court procedures.
